Reverend Briggs is a 1986 graduate of Mars Hill College with a Bachelor
of Social Work Degree, and a 1990 graduate of Duke University. She
received her Master of Divinity Degree with a concentration in Religious
Education from Duke.
Reverend Briggs was ordained as a Deacon in 1988 and as an Elder of the
United Methodist Church in 1992. As a minister she has served eight
parishes. Places of service have included the Albemarle, Asheville,
Waynesville, and Marion Districts of the Western North Carolina
Conference. In July 2012,
Rev. Briggs will
begin her 26th
year of pastoral ministry in the WNC Conference.
Reverend Briggs currently serves on The Brotherhood/Sisterhood Board of
Directors for WNCC, The Asheville District Board of Church Location and
Building, as a Mentor for Candidates for Ministry, and is a member of
the Black Mountain Ministerial Association.
Rev. Briggs is married to Michael Briggs.
Michael is a Sales Representative for Hajoca Corporation of
Asheville. Lynda and
Michael have two sons. Richard and his wife Sabrina live in Weaverville,
NC with their son, Hunter.
Patrick and his wife Bianca live in Greer, South Carolina with their
daughter, Kenadie.
